This past weekend I participated in the Georgetown's Artopia Festival up in Seattle. For my project, Collective Sense of Place, I invited passers-by to share their significant places in and around Seattle. Participants wrote personal stories, drew pictures, and/or gave brief descriptions of personally significant places and with my assistance, stitched their descriptions along the outside of a large fabric map, marking the actual location on the map with a red embroidery "x".
